THEESatisfaction’s track “EarthEE” from their forthcoming album is GREAT.
I’m an absolute sucker for harmony, so Cat and Stas are fulfilling my human candy quota for Valentine’s Day. “EarthEE” is spacey, dreamy, ethereal and laid back. On this THEESatisfaction team up with Sub Pop labelmates Porter Ray and the Palaceer for a mellow track that encourages catch and release. THEESatisfaction’s album EarthEE is out Feb. 24th via Sub Pop. If you’re in Seattle, you can catch THEESatisfaction at their album release party Feb. 26th at Neumos.
Drake pulled a Beyonce and dropped a 17-track album entitled If You’re Reading This, It’s Too Late.
“Please do not speak to me like I’m that Drake from four years ago/I’m in a new place.” If the lyrics from “No Tellin'” don’t indicate a big departure from Drake, what else will? Drake has been on so many tours through The Hit Factory that he’s an official guide, badge and all. It’s probably why in “No Tellin'” he says “I had to switch the flow up/this shit’s gettin’ too predictable.” He does indeed, and while It’s Too Late has features with Lil’ Wayne, Travi$ Scott, and PARTYNEXTDOOR, the album is a definitively effort.
It’s Too Late is not your club hits album – it’s better than that, depending on what type of Drake you like. This is introspective Drake, Drake that’s not worried about Rihanna, but more worried about his future. “Energy” sounds like 0-100 Part II, name-dropping those hoes that ask for the wi-fi and need an Uber at the end of the night. Overall the beats are early mixtape homages that are fitting for Drake’s next chapter – minimal, bare bones, heavy-handed 808s and no-nonsense. There’s still ego, arrogance, and no new friends. AND a nod to Erykah Badu at the end of “6 Men” that you must hear.
