A mouthful of music for your Thursday night, complete with listener-driven radio.
Happy almost weekend, guys. There’s a lot going on what with the Sports and the 12s everywhere, but that’s for Sunday. Let’s recap what happened in radio. Yesterday KEXP had a groundbreaking moment with a host of supporters for their new home in the Seattle Center. Sub Pop signees Rose Windows performed along with Base Drum of Death to attendees, Top Pot dished some donuts, and tours were given of the brand new facility.
Let’s take a look at what’s happening tonight:
The Crocodile | Iska Dhaaf, Gravebabies, Newaxeyes
Career moves are big, especially if you are literally moving. Such is the case with Iska Dhaaf, who despite the transatlantic move are still a Seattle group. Tonight they’re bringing their experimental, complex melodies to The Crocodile along with Gothic post-punk group Gravebabies and heavy synth from Newaxeyes.
Vermillion | Belle & Sebastian Dance Party
It’s been made clear by their most recent album that dancing is the active verb Belle & Sebastian are encouraging for this year. Vermillion is making sure that happens tonight with a full dance party from the band’s discography. The most danceable tunes will be saved for last, implying that the beginning of the night will be a pensive sit-down with the bands more emotionally thoughtful side of the catalog. If that’s the case, an emotionally thoughtful pouring of some Woodenville Reserve might make fill the dance floor sooner.
