The Denmark band releases a new track off their upcoming album Thoughts are Like Mandatory Chores out Sept. 18th. Potty Mouth get fresh squeezed punk in “Cherry Picking.”
This week’s going to be a doozy, kittens. Bumbershoot kicks off the end of summer this Labor Day Weekend and I’ve selected my top picks over at D0206. Speaking of, you can find all of my Bumbershoot coverage over there throughout the weekend. Can’t wait until the weekend? Buy tickets to some great shows happening before then. Puffer rockers Acid Tongue are playing tonight with King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard (their name sounds like a fucked up Dr. Seuss book) at Neumos tonight. Tomorrow, we bid a fond farewell to Seattle’s favorite punks Kithkin at Chop Suey along with some unnamed special guests. If that’s sold out (it will be), then go see Grave Babies with So Pitted, Charms and Casual Hex at Black Lodge.
With everything going on, it’s been a minute since I dove into my email to find a new single that wasn’t already streaming through my social media channels (that read really gross – also, what’s with all my parentheses today? ((()))(())) Anyway, Denmark’s Yung are releasing a new EP that’s already sold out in pre-order, but comes out in a limited run Sept. 18th. My favorite Massachusetts punk band Potty Mouth released a self-titled EP in August that I completely missed and now must pay tribute to with their single “Cherry Picking.” Enjoy.
Yung | These Thoughts Are Like Mandatory Chores [EP] | Sept. 18th
The Denmark DIY outfit Yung put their fast-paced driving rock n’ roll energy on a new EP that explodes with chugging guitars and a thrashing good time. The band’s first single “Blue Uniforms” is a six-minute dream sequence of punk and synthy fuzz swimming together in perfect sundrenched harmony. Their second single “God” showcases the singing and songwriting chops of Mikkel Holm, a 21 year-old who sounds like he’s been steadily carrying the mic for years and years. “God” whirls around anthemic guitars and Holms’ coarse vocals to produce a driving, awesome cut. Their EP comes out September 18th ahead of a small tour including a run in NYC. Pre-order it now from Fat Possum.
Potty Mouth [Self Titled]
Damn, Soundcloud, you get me. In another dispatch from the realms of the algorithmic-ether, the streaming service produced this track and I’ve been rocking out ever since. It sounds like it’s straight out of a 2001 teenage rom-com where you’d blast this song out of your beat up 94′ bright red BMW double parking over the popular girls’ parking spot. Compared to the Massachusetts’ previous work, this is a fresh-squeeze of new things to come for Potty Mouth.
