New Music Premiere – Wet “Deadwater” & Bubonik Funk “Carolina Phase”

This week’s gonna be a short one content wise. I’ve got one of my best friends visiting me from North Carolina – he’s on a west coast friend tour that’s making its way to Seattle and it’ll require my full attention (like I’m sad about THAT).

Also from North Carolina are funk rock group Bubonik Funk, who not only have release four albums and performed hundreds of shows over years of touring, they’ve released a new song from their forthcoming LP, Oddfish Vol. 1. It’s all about the chorus in ‘Carolina Phase’ – catchy, harmonious and filled with soul. If you’ve had a couple of summer weather teases, this is the perfect song to welcome the sun. Keep up with Bubonik Funk on their website.

Gorilla vs. Bear posted this song from Wet’s debut LP, Don’t You, out this fall. Essentially I got to GVB to queue up all of the tracks that could be in a playlist called Stop and Smell the Roses. Atmospheric and melodic, “Deadwater” is delicate and vulnerable, framed in an arrangement of vocals from Kelly Zutrau. Give a listen to the group Fader calls “the most promising group in music.” Don’t You will be released sometime in the fall.
